Hi readers, its’ Kerry, Emily and William here today, meeting online, so all sat at home on our devices. With the Olympics starting tomorrow. we wanted to write about this, as we are all looking forward to the opening ceremony.
Both of us, Emily and Kerry, will be watching at home with a gin and lemonade! I, William, will be watching with a cup of tea!
I, Kerry, am most looking forward to the wheelchair sports when the Paralympics start because they are so inspiring and know that I will never have the balance to take part in many of these sports. I find the cycling fascinating, as I have no idea how they go round and round in the velodromes. As for me, Emily, I’m looking forward to all of it, especially the swimming, as I like swimming when I can. I, William, will watch all the sports, in particular the athletics, football, rugby, cycling and tennis.
We admire the athletes, who will have put so much time and effort into their training, and especially those taking part who have a normal, everyday job too. We wonder how hard it must be for them to balance that with their training, especially if they have a family.
We hope Great Britain get lots of gold medals. We reflected on the Olympics in England in 2012 as I, Kerry went to the Paralympics in London, which was a great experience, especially for someone in a wheelchair. I watched the wheelchair basketball which was excellent. We think it was great how much Weymouth improved its facilities to prepare for the Olympics, and how smart it looked then. We wonder if all the investment into the town has made a difference to the long-term prosperity of Weymouth. What do you think readers?
