Hi readers, it’s Emily and Kerry here, catching up on loads of things, now finding it hard choosing which to share with you today.
We’ll start with something uplifting; Emily seeing Only Fools and Horses in Southampton recently. I, Kerry, have asked Emily some questions. Here’s how it all went.
Me, Emily, and my support staff took the train, which unfortunately was delayed. So, our plan to spend time looking around Southampton and going out for lunch, changed to grabbing something in Subway! That was ok though and better than rushing.
We then went to the theatre. When we’d booked, only 6 seats were left, luckily 2 together on the balcony. We went up in the lift which was quite a squash, but better going up all the stairs. We did walk down them after the show as that was easier.
The show was brilliant, we really enjoyed it. The train home was on time so that was good too. Would I go again? Yes, if I can as it’s an expensive day, paying carer costs too, like tickets and their time.
This got me and Kerry talking about how much more expensive life is, if you have a disability and need support. Then, having to prove your ‘dis’ ability and remembering to take the right documents with you. If you don’t, it can be a real problem. Like when I, Kerry, forgot, and needed to get back at night from Weymouth. With the driver pressing me to show him, I got all flustered which made it harder to find the document proving I could get on the bus in a mobility scooter. Forgetting that, means not getting home, and I have no idea what I’d do then. Panic, probably!
More next week on getting out and about, tune in to find out!
