Hi readers, Emily, Kerry and William here, updating you on the book launch event!
We arrived early, so we could sign some books before people arrived, all feeling excited and a bit scared as we’ve never done a book launch before, and didn’t know how many people would come.
Well, as people came into the lounge, it started to get fuller…and fuller…but thankfully, just before it got too crazy full, Maxine and Andre from the Dorford Centre said we could move into the main hall. Thanks to them, our fab volunteers, and many others, it went smoothly.
People queued up to buy books, while we sat at a table to sign them with Cat, our fellow writer. It was like being famous or important! I, Emily felt better to have my fellow writers with me, while I, William, felt thankful, seeing people enjoying the book. That made it feel very worthwhile. There was a bit of sadness too, for me, Kerry, remembering my family, who I’d loved to have shared this moment with.
It was non-stop and we also realised, as people sat facing the stage, we’d need more than the short talk we’d prepared! Luckily, the lovely people from Susie’s Travels Facebook Team – Sophie, Sabrina and Matthew were also there, plus Jenny (Susie’s owner). They joined us on stage, and we each spoke about our experience of Susie. Matthew was funny, talking about Susie’s ‘dark side’! Even Olli, from Blue Poppy Publishing, made it from Devon, so we got him up to speak.
The Q&A afterwards was good. People asked lots of questions and said nice things. Time passed quickly, and soon it was over.
We suggested a drink after but the next morning I, Emily was off to Southampton; I, Kerry to Brighton and me, William, needed an early night. Who’d have thought we’d have such full lives now!
