Hi readers, it’s Emily, Kerry and William talking about the Big Night Out, we went to recently. What’s the Big Night Out? It’s a brilliant nightclubbing event for adults with learning disabilities, held at Cameo Nightclub in Bournemouth. The Big Night Out events are organised by People First Forum, and generously sponsored by Suttles.
We, Emily and William, went on a coach that People First Dorset had organised. First, it picked some of us up from Weymouth, then others from Dorchester, before heading to Bournemouth. I, Kerry, didn’t go as I’m saving pennies for my holiday!
Our driver was Lee from Newcastle, who was friendly. After we arrived at Cameo, we handed in our pre-booked tickets and were given wristbands. This was helpful, as some of us popped out to get a takeaway during the evening. I, Emily, went to Taco Bell, which was good.
I, William, ate at Cameo with my friend Richard, who turned up as a surprise. It was great to see him!
The night was SO much fun. Imagine over 400 adults with a learning disability having the best time! The atmosphere is totally electric and full of joy! The DJ’s all have a learning disability too and played lots of fabulous hits from the 90’s, keeping us on the dance floor!
I, Emily love it because the main dance room is loud and crazy, but there is another room which is more chilled. I, William, loved spending the night dancing!
At the end of the night, we managed to lose one of our members. It was no surprise to see he was still having a great time on the dance floor and had to be persuaded to leave or he wouldn’t have been able to get home!
We are already looking forward to the next one in October.
