Quality checking is important as it can show how good services are. It helps to make sure services are supporting people with learning disabilities to lead full, safe and active lives.
The Quality Checking team judge the quality of the services against a set of standards. Then they write a report about what they found. They might make suggestions about how things could improve and make people’s lives better.
The team have all used services themselves and are known as ‘experts by experience’. This means they have first-hand knowledge of using services so make very good quality checkers!
People First Dorset award our kite mark to services that our Quality Check Team would recommend to others. This quality mark shows people that we have visited the service to carry out a check and we think they are doing a great job.
We work with Dorset Volunteer Centre to offer all our Quality Checkers the opportunity to get community credit vouchers for their work. These vouchers can be used around Dorset in cafes, shops and leisure activities.
